Maria Dolour Servito-Navarra studied Mass Communications, Major in Journalism and Minor in Broadcasting at the University of The Philippines Baguio for about two years; then transferred to Brigham Young University Hawaii (BYUH) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Cultural Studies-Communication, with a Journalism emphasis, Magna Cum Laude. While studying there she worked as writer, layout artist and copy editor for the school newspaper.
After she graduated she worked as copy editor for Fil-Am Courier, a Filipino-American newspaper in Hawaii. She also served an English-speaking mission in the Indiana Indianapolis for 1 ½ years.
Back in high school, she has numerous exposures and trainings in journalism, as well. In her fourth year, she was the editor-in-chief for her school’s newspaper, editorial writer, news writer, feature writer, and a copy editor. Yearly, she participated in journalism workshops and competitions in division, regional, and national levels.
Here in the Philippines, she worked at a Korean school and taught writing, reading, and speaking classes. She is presently working as an online English teacher for Koreans, and a SELA Manager for the SERVITO’s KSS Learning Center.
She is the eldest maria of Mr. & Mrs. Domingo F. Servito who is married to Thelmo Navarra; and a mother to daughter Thea Louralei.
